One can call Amsterdam as one of the greatest small cities in the world. The canals or world-famous museums and historical sights one can find everything in Amsterdam, so naturally it is known to be one of the most romantic and beautiful cities in Europe. In addition to that it is a city of tolerance and diversity. It has all the advantages of a big city: culture, entertainments, international restaurants, and good transport, but all this without the hassles of a big city. It is a relatively small, quiet, and largely thanks to its canals, has a little road traffic. In Amsterdam any destination is never far away.

Amsterdam is one of the world’s best hangouts, a canny blend of old and new. One can find radical squatter art installations hang off 17th-century eaves. In this city BMWs give way to bicycles, and triple-strength monk-made beer is drunk in gleaming, minimalist cafes. The city seems to thrive on its mix

and, despite hordes of tourists, still manages to feel quintessentially Dutch. The old crooked houses, the cobbled streets, the tree-lined canals and the generous parks all contribute to the atmosphere.

The best season to visit Amsterdam is around Easter and July-August. Though both of them have their own advantages, each season is different from the other. April to May sees daffodils and tulips come to life through the cracks in the crowds. The beautiful summers are a great time to grab a bite and a drink alongside a canal. Though winter is a bit bleak it’s hardly ever extremely cold. The cozy hearted pubs give shelter and offer one a chance to meet “real” Dutch. Another distinct advantage is the hotels are cheaper compared to the main season.

A great incentive is the Amsterdam Arts Adventure. It is a selection of the many unique festivals and events that takes place in Amsterdam from June onwards.
